[ARCHIVED] Empty the Shelter Day

August 22, 2014

SEAGOVILLE TX – On August 16, 2014, Seagoville Animal Services participated in “Empty the Shelter Day.” This event was sponsored by NBC 5 and promoted animal adoptions from local shelters by waiving adoption fees for one day allowing adopters to give homeless animals a “forever home” at no charge.

The event was organized by Corey Price, Director of the City of Irving’s Animal Shelter to alleviate shelter overcrowding at a time of the year when most shelters are full of grown dogs, cats, puppies and kittens. Over 30 local shelters in the DFW Metroplex participated in this event. The Seagoville Animal Shelter adopted out 19 dogs and 14 cats. Thank you to our volunteers, community and NBC 5 for supporting this outstanding event.
