SEAGOVILLE, TX- On Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at about 11:15 pm., a home surveillance video recording camera system captured footage of a male suspect in the act of burglarizing a parked vehicle on the driveway of a Seagoville residence. The depicted suspect, who was not acting alone in what investigators later determined to be a crime spree that included property and mail theft, was tracked to a Seagoville retail location where he used a stolen credit card taken during the aforesaid vehicle burglary. This activity was also captured on video and segments of both recordings were released by Seagoville Police to social media in an attempt to expose and identify the suspects. On the morning of November 6, 2014 Garland Police found cause to stop a suspicious vehicle that appeared to be casing a Garland City neighborhood. The driver and sole occupant was identified as Joshua David Canales, age 29, from Balch Springs Texas. Inside of Canales’ vehicle, police recovered stolen property in connection to the Seagoville vehicle burglary. As well, Canales was reportedly in possession of numerous pieces of personal identifying information associated with a large list of intended victims of identity theft spanning the metroplex and contiguous counties. Canales was arrested by Garland Police and faces felony charges of Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information. The Seagoville Police Department is charging Canales with burglary of vehicle and credit card abuse. As of this date, 12/3/2014, Canales is being held in the Dallas County Jail with a bond amount of $80,000. Canales’ accomplice remains at large..
