[ARCHIVED] Halloween Safety Tips

Seagoville, Texas – With Halloween fast approaching, it is important to review some safety tips for the little ones that will be out and about trick-or-treating this year. Here are just a few tips that may make your Halloween experience safer:
• Children should never be allowed to trick-or-treat alone, and parents should accompany their children to the door.
• Parents should ensure that children are dressed in reflective clothing, and all safety precautions should be taken when crossing streets. Be careful not to cross the street between parked vehicles. You should only cross at an intersection, or where you have an open line of sight.
• Inspect your child’s candy. If you are suspicious of a treat that your child has received, throw it away, or call the police at 972-287-2999 if you believe it has been tampered with.
• Review stranger danger tips with your child. Remember children should not talk to strangers.
• Only trick-or-treat at locations where it is obvious they are prepared to provide a trick-or-treating experience. Do not walk up to homes unless you are sure someone is at home.
• Finally, be respectful of others property.
Seagoville traditionally has several fall festivals that are very good venues for children to attend. Consult your local churches, and youth organizations for the dates and times of these events. Have a safe Halloween, or fall festival experience.
