The Health, Code and Sanitation Department is dedicated to protecting the health, safety and quality of life for all the residents and business in the City of Seagoville. Through a combination of public education, proactive enforcement, and essential city services, our team works every day to maintain a safe, clean and livable environment for all. Our mission is to uphold community standards by enforcing health and safety codes, managing sanitation services and promoting public well-being through fair, transparent, and community-focused practices.
Responsibilities for Health Department
The City of Seagoville health department mission is to protect the health of the citizens from foodborne illness, communicable disease and hazardous materials through routine health inspection, education, monitoring, investigation and enforcement of food and environmental ordinances. Health department protects the public from foodborne, waterborne and other communicable diseases through routine inspections and education.
Inspections of food establishments, childcare centers, mobile food vendors, public and semi-public swimming pools, aquatic facilities and foster homes.
Permits and inspections for private sewage disposal systems contractually by Dallas County Health and Human Services (DCHHS)
Monitoring and establishing vector/mosquito control in and around the City of Seagoville
Responding to environment health-related complaints in; general sanitation, foodborne illness and stagnant water
Responsibilities for Code Enforcement
Investigate and respond to complaints about property maintenance, junk vehicles, illegal dumping, and zoning violations
Enforce city ordinances to maintain neighborhood safety and appearance
Work with property owners to find solutions and ensure compliance
Responsibilities for Sanitation
Coordinate regular garbage, recycling, and bulk item collection
Maintain cleanliness of public spaces, alleys, and streets
Support special clean-up programs and seasonal services
